Course Title:
Problem Solving Workshop: Optimising functional performance of adults following neurological pathology: Application of the Bobath concept. (Especially appropriate for Occupational Therapists and Community Physiotherapists). This course is on a Saturday and SundayCourse Details:
This course aims to deepen the course participants understanding of the relationship between functional recovery and movement performance specifically focusing on task analysis. The course consists of practical and theoretical components and includes patient demonstrations.
By the end of the course you will have:
Developed clinical reasoning, assessment and intervention skills to produce more effective results when working with the adult neurological patient.
Gained a deeper understanding of the relationship between postural control and functional recovery through in depth human movement analysis and it’s links to task performance and participation.
An improved understanding of the impact of neurological impairment on the potential for functional recovery by using a knowledge of systems control to enhance clinical reasoning.
Understand the key principles of motor learning and plasticity and the positive consequences i.e. promoting recovery, as well as the negative features such as unnecessary compensatory strategies and secondary adaptive changes.
Reviewed the current evidence and explored how this knowledge can facilitate clinical reasoning and more effective treatment interventions.
